Summer Solstice Jewelry Edit: Gemstones, Rituals & Radiant Pieces

On the Longest Day

I always feel something on the summer solstice.

It's hard to explain exactly, it's not like anything dramatic happens. You don't wake up and the world looks differently, but there's this quality to the light that day in the way it just keeps going long past when it should and something in me responds to it. Like a little internal exhale of Oh, here it is again.

The longest day: The sun at her most generous.

And I know not everyone marks it, plenty of people just live through it like any other Tuesday with their iced coffee, scouring their inbox and vaguely fantasising about the sea. That's completely valid. But I do think there's something worth noticing in it, even just for a moment.

For me, noticing it often starts with what I put on.

Gold citrine stacking ring catching sunlight

There are certain stones that just feel like this time of year to me.

  • Citrine, obviously! That warm golden glow like light through a glass of something cold.
  • Aquamarine, which looks exactly like the sea looks in your imagination of a perfect holiday.
  • Chrysoprase in this fresh, alive green that feels like the first genuinely warm morning of the year.
  • Pink opal, soft and a little dreamy.

I'm not precious about the "meanings" of gemstones, I think you're allowed to just like how something looks. But I do think certain things resonate at certain times, and right now everything warm and light-catching and alive feels exactly right.

→ Grab your own Citrine sunlit ring

Summer days have this particular quality where you lose track of time without minding.
It's golden hour for what feels like three hours and then it's warm and dark, someone has lit candles somewhere and you're still outside and you can't quite believe it's nearly midnight.

I love jewelry for exactly this kind of day. Something layered and light-catching that works at noon and still looks good when the fairy lights come on. The day is just shifting around you and the right piece of jewelry shifts with it.

→ Perfect Dreamer studs

I've been thinking lately about what a ritual actually is, and I think it's simpler than we make it. It doesn't have to involve anything elaborate, sometimes a solstice ritual is just stepping outside for a minute, feeling the warmth. Or maybe its putting on the ring that makes you feel like yourself and deciding, just for today, to be a little present in it.

→ Get a load of this Giraffe Turquoise ring

The sun gets her longest day. I think you're allowed yours too, whatever that looks like.
A slow morning, a long evening, something that catches the light on your hand and makes you smile for no particular reason.
